Here a few of my favorite new fabrics over at the Warm Biscuit Bedding Co.
Looking for a fabric that will express your love of Mother Nature? This chic brown trees & birds fabric is ideal for home decorating projects. Chartreuse green and white trees rest on a chocolate brown background, and between the trees white silhouettes of birds fly. This fashion fabric is sure to stand out! Use this fabric to make a tote bag, curtains, or whatever your creativity can think of.
Do you love birds as much as I do? Then you'll love this fabric too. This chic pink birds & hearts fabric is a cute fabric kids will love as much as adults. Brown and green birds march with small pink hearts in between on a pink cotton background in this novelty fabric. Would have been perfect for Valentines Day, but also great all year round. Make your sweet little girl an apron or a pillow to lay her head.
This chic pink, brown & green hearts fabric is ideal for quilting, curtains, or bedding. Brown, pink and green hearts mingle in this novelty fabric. This fabric is a great coordinate with the pink birds and hearts fabric.

New, Fun Fabrics
We're always adding new fabrics every week to our fabric shop, and here are a few of recent additions that I'm most excited about:
This chic brown & coral birds woodcut fabric is ideal for home decorating projects. Several flowers and sparrows in a dark espresso brown that resemble woodcut prints or paper cutouts rest on a coral pink cotton background in this novelty fabric. I can imagine making some really stunning accent pillows with this fabric. This fashion fabric is designed by Paula Prass, and is sure to stand out!
Gray is really coming into style lately, and I think this gray modern floral fabric proves why. The color combo of pinks, blues, and gray really works great. Sometimes you just need a neutral color to balance out bright colors. This fashion fabric is also designed by Paula Prass--she is just so talented. The colors coordinate perfectly with the brown & coral woodcut fabric.
This darling old fashioned vintage nursery check cream fabric is a great nursery fabric. Black birds rise from the plum pie, the dish runs away with the spoon, Little Miss Muffet sits on a tuffet, and several more nursery rhymes rest on a vintage white background in this kids novelty fabric. Little floral chains form checks: each check is approximately 3.75" wide.

Creating Custom Look
My reason for creating the Warm Biscuit Bedding Co. was to make it possible for parents to create a custom feel to their childrens' bedrooms, without spending a ridiculous sum of money. The idea came to me when I had my first child. I realized that the cost of custom kids bedding and custom kids furniture can be extremely high. My goal was to offer simple but quality designs that parents could add their own personal touch to.
The custom bedding part of the business is relatively new, but really took off as our fabric store grew. Now our seamstresses are kept busy with people decorating a nursery for their first baby, or their kid's first big kid bedding set.
We just launched this week our new custom sewing page. I'm so excited! We hired an illustrator to do the drawings for us, and I think they look great! They completely capture the sense of whimsy I know everyone feels when they are working from a blank slate to design a room. Let me know what you think!

Winter Wonderland
This picture doesn't show the extent of the blizzard, but I just love the expression on Wesley's face. Not sure what he was doing with his hands...
And here is a photo my mom emailed me, that was taken in Western Maryland. See that little dark dot in the background? That's a car!

Valentines Day Crafts
Searching the internet, here are some great bits of Valentines Day inspiration I stumbled upon.
The flicker account of Paper and String have a great collection of photos from 2008. I think these little heart ornaments are great, whether to hang from banisters, door knobs, or to make a little wreath them.
I also love their heart magnets from this year. They really have a special feel for color and detail. I know I would love to hang up some Valentines with one of these cute magnets! If you like this stuff, check out her blog, it's full a great crafts and fun giveaways. Certainly worth a visit.

Monday Giveaway
Happy Monday! This weekend for me was a winter wonderland, and while I love a good snow, I think I'm ready Spring. Which is why looking over some photos my employee in New Orleans sent me of the Saints celebration down there last night got me feeling jealous.
Notice those bare hands? At night? Totally impossible up here in New York.
Anyway, congratulations to Scat413 for winning the Monday Giveaway. Hope you and your child enjoy the fish memory board.
This week we will be giving away something for your little girl to keep her jewelry and treasures in! This lavender jewelry box is truely special! Here is how to win:
1. Leave a comment on your favorite jewelry or special treasure as a kid.
2. Mention how you found this site
3. Check out the Warm Biscuit Bedding Co. to see what other girls jewelry boxes or girls jewelry they carry.

Mardi Gras Craft
To help me keep good on my promise to regularly update this blog, an employee who recently relocated to New Orleans is going to help me out. Without further adieu:
People down in New Orleans take Mardi Gras very seriously. Not only are all shops and offices closed on Mardi Gras, but also on the preceding Monday and the Friday. Costumes are also taken very seriously. How serious? Well, the Mardi Gras Indians spend the whole year gluing millions of beads to make up complex designs. They actually reuse all the beads and materials from their suit last year. Each suit weighs around 150 lbs. There are 43 official tribes, all of which have their own practice spaces, but they all come together at sunrise of Fat Tuesday. More on this later.
Then of course there are all the Krewe's that each hold their parade. While the big parades are in the days leading up to Mardi Gras, the first Krewe with a big parade is over two weeks prior to Fat Tuesday.
Even those residents not part of a Krewe or a Tribe take costumes seriously. When a friend of mine was making plans to meet up with a friend at a parade, when they found out he didn't have a costume they refused to be seen with him!
My dad was down to help me with the move, and he wanted help getting a costume together. I took my inspiration from traditional costumes made in Eunice, a small town in Cajun Country I visited last Spring. In Eunice they celebrate Mardi Gras by getting dressed up and chasing a chicken on horses, and then making a big stew for the town.
We started with a trip to used clothing stores, and got a pair of ugly wool pants, a bright striped polo shirt, and some scrap fabric. Then we headed to a craft store and bought some ribbon and plastic mask. Total cost of supplies? Just a little over $8. A good costume does not need to cost a bundle.
Basically it came down to a hot glue gun, and tearing up lots of strips of material. I decided to use the seams for direction.
In the end it was not as complex as the costumes from Eunice, but my dad got a lot of complements, lots of people were taking his picture, and out of all of us he got the most goodies being handed out.
And here's a picture of my dad outside of the ball and inside:
All and all a good start to the Carnival season.

Monday Giveaway
We had quite a snow storm this weekend, though nothing in comparison to the one earlier this year. Luckily we were well stocked with plenty of hot cocoa and tea. It's always fun when the city turns into a winter wonderland--me and the boys took a long walk along East River Park.
Anyhow, happy Monday! Congratulations to C.C. Mommy for winning the birthday candles.
This week The Warm Biscuit Bedding Co. will be giving away a fish memory board.
Tuck a reminder note, your boy's favorite picture, or the latest letter from grandma without tacks or tape with this adorable memory board. Measuring 21 x 18 inches, your boy will love putting all his important mementos in this memory board. The fish fabric is the same used in all our boys gone fishin' bedding and bedroom decor to make coordinating easy.
Here is how to win:
1. Leave a comment on a favorite childhood memory.
2. Mention how you found this site
3. Check out the Warm Biscuit Bedding Co. to see what other kids decor products they carry.
4. Make sure I can contact you! Either leave an email address in your comment, or make sure that you have contact information on your blog profile.
You can receive an extra entry towards this giveaway if you link to this give-away in your blog and put that link in your comment. Or Twitter this giveaway and follow me on Twitter.
The give-away is open for entries until Sunday, February 7, at 11:59 PM. Winners will be chosen at random, and announced Monday afternoon. Good luck!
