Spring to me means gingham fabrics. Whether to make a fresh apron, or an Easter tablecloth, gingham fabrics remind me of new leaves on trees, crocus flowers, and that first red robin. So I
decided to search Etsy for some gingham inspired items. Here is what I found:
I love these! This artist uses different fabrics to make unique covers to recipe books, and she uses gingham fabric as the border. She has a lot of different versions--each recipe book is completely unique. She never uses patterns! I love how she sews the title in--special touches like that make all the difference to me. The notebook itself has about 120 checkered pages, and the artist can supply lined paper if you request it.
Don't worry, these ladybugs won't ruin your picnic! I really like this ladybug and yellow gingham plate, it's so cheerful. The underside of this glass plate has been decoupaged with fabric that has a pattern of red ladybugs on a yellow checked background. I can imagine how great some lemon squares or cantaloupe would look on it. It is 7 3/4" in diameter and has been sealed with polyurethane. It is waterproof, but should not be immersed in water. The artist has a bunch of other cool plates too.
Of course, the main part of spring I look forward to is the wonderful smell of flowers blooming. I guess you could take some of that inside with this gingham lavender pouch. I like how the artist uses vintage fabrics to match with the gingham fabrics.
