As the boys and I prepare for the cool weather, we are baking up a storm in the Bodwell abode! We've made apple pies, apple streudel, homemade pizza, bread and even BUTTER.
Nothing makes me happier than to work side by side with them, arm deep in flour all the while chatting and discussing how best to roll out the dough whether I'll ever master the pizza dough toss.
One of the best outcome of this "Great Recession" is that it has made us cook more at home. Every night is Family Dinner Night to the degree that I can't remember when we last ordered in or ate out. Funny thing is, I don't even miss it. (Sorry restaurateurs!)
So for all you bakers (and baker wannabe's), this is the time of year to roll up our sleeves, get out the flour, sugar and start baking. And to keep the kids clean and tidy, we are giving away one of our exclusive Warm Biscuit aprons of your choice.

The baking tip that I have is for cookies. Take the cookies out of the oven a minute or two before they are about to turn brown. Let them sit on the cookie sheet for 1 t 2 minutes..I do this every time and they stay soft and don't get crispy. My friend from cREaTe sent me a link to your adorable giveaway!

My favorite baking tip is with rising dough. We always let it rise on top of the stove while the oven is preheating.
I found this blog while I blog hopping one day.
I have been showing my husband the framed personalized mom necklaces hoping he would take the hint and get me one haha

My favorite baking tip is to take cookies out of the oven 5 minutes before the recipe calls and then let them continue to cook/set at room temp until they are PERFECT!
The apron is precious...

Greetings! Your giveaways are so generous and fabulous. The aprons are all so adorable. My favorite is the Cherry Apron! I am happy that I found your site when I did a web search for children's gifts. I have a special recipe for the best icing from a childhood friend's mom! Both her mom and my friend have passed on.
One of the things to make the recipe is boiling milk and flour together.
I have learned that adding a pinch of baking soda helps the milk not curdle. If Cindi is me from your Halloween giveaway, thank you very much.....Cindi

instead of dirtying a bowl for mixing (and letting my kids make a mess when mixing) I use a food storage bag, tie it with a twist tie and let my son squish it to mix the ingredients. Plus it leaves me nothing to wash!
I found you when I received towels for my daughter
I love the personalized hair clips

My favorite baking tip is heading to this awesome shop called the village house bakery here in Tucson and buying a blueberry peach pie--it is the best!!!! I am not much of a baker but I aspire to become one=)
What a great give away. I am expecting a little one in Feb. and it would sure be fun to have this to hang in the nursery. If found the blog with google. I was looking for vintage nursery decor. The online bedding shop has some wonderful treats!
Thanks for offering the give away.

Oh, that cherry apron is lovely. My daughter would absolutely love that! Okay, so my baking tip is to bake atleast double and freeze. That way you'll always have a quick treat to pull out and warm up when surprise company shows up. This time of year when you can buy big bushels of apples for a reasonable price, it's good to bake 3 or 4 apple pies and then freeze them before baking. When you want to use one, you pop it into the oven frozen and bake until nice and brown.
Okay, I actually just found your blog today when I did a google search on bedding. I love your shop - there are so many old-fashioned toys and toys that actually inspire kids to think! Love that!
Hi Vicki! Just wanted to let you know I wrote a post about your giveaway on my blog and linked both to your blog and also your shop!
Love the idea of staying home and cooking! My kids regularly help in the kitchen, too, so a new apron would be wonderful! Thanks for the giveaway!
